Goa is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Located in West India in the region known as the Konkan, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, and by Karnataka to the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast. Goa is a former Portuguese colony, the Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 450 years until it was annexed by India in 1961.    NORTH GOA BEACHES    

 
Anjuna is a village in Goa and world famous for its trance parties held on the beach during the tourist season. Anjuna Beach is to the south of the village with its usual lot of restaurants and bars offering you a variety of food (Indian, Goan, Indian, Continental, Italian, French etc).  Anjuna is also famous for its flea market on Wednesdays, wherein you can purchase many things, ranging from fruits to jewelry, clothes and electronic devices.
 
 
 
 
Baga a seaside town in  Goa, India located at distance of few kilometers from famous Calangute Beach. Baga is known for its popular beach, Baga Beach with it's brown sands, and creek, The beach is in North Goa and contains rows of shacks and fishing boats, and at high tide the beach is narrow. The beach is named after the Baga Creek, which empties into the Arabian Sea at the north end of the beach. Baga Beach is also famous for its water sports and Dolphin cruises. It is visited by thousands of tourists annually. This is is smaller than the Calangute and Colva beaches lying on either side of it. Baga Goa is the perfect place for those who want to get away from the much crowded beaches and joy a quiet holiday.
 
 
Calangute is one of the most famous and largest beach in north Goa, visited by thousands of domestic and international tourists alike. The beach offers water sport activities like parasailing and water skiing, among others.  Close proximity to Panaji, the capital of Goa, makes this beach a much desirable and sought after.  People love to visit this beach for its ideal location, availability of good accommodation in numerous resorts and lodges nearby, wide choice of eating joints and shacks offering various cuisines under open skies with magnificient view of Arabian sea. Candolim,  is a small town in North Goa in the state just south of the famous Calangute beach, and is popular tourist destination. Candolim is said to be the first village to be entirely converted to Christianity in 16th century. Fifteen kilometers from Panjim, Candolim starts at Fort Aguada and merging with Calangute beach towards the end, it is one of the longest beaches in the state and is located in the Bardez taluka. The beach in itself is very calm and peaceful. What adds to the scenic beauty of the sand and sea are the scrub covered dunes at the back of the beach quite popular with tourists. Though the beach is close to bustling Calangute beach, life is rather laid back at Candolim
 
 
Vagator Beach is the northernmost beach of Bardez Taluka, Goa. It is located on the opposite bank of the Chapora River from Morjim in Pernem. To the south of Vagator is Anjuna, one of the first hippy haunts of Goa. Vagator Beach has dramatic red cliffs looking down on the shore and two fresh water springs within a stone's throw of the sea. There are a number of places playing to a dance & trance crowd during the tourist season. These include: Nine Bar located just above Little Vagator. Also there are a number of Mediterranean and Indian Cafes/Hotels serving a variety of food and drink.
 
 
 
Dona Paula is a former village, and tourist destination, in the suburbs of Panaji, Dona Paula located on the beautiful and famous sea stretch that spans from Panjim, Miramar and Dona Paula is a very famous area frequented by tourists. During the tourist season Dona Paula transforms into a crowded stretch which is otherwise a calm beautiful place during monsoons. The idyllic rocky tourist attraction lies at the spot where the Mandovi and the Zuari river meet and confluences with the Arabian Sea at a distance of 1 Km from this point. It is also home to a number of hotels, small and large. Dona Paula located on the beautiful and famous sea stretch that spans from Panjim, Miramar and Dona Paula is a very famous area frequented by tourists.
 
 
   
   South GOA BEACHES    

 
Benaulim is is a beach town a little south of Margoa. It is a town of immense natural beauty, located along the scenic south goa coastline.  Benaulim's main market is located at Maria Hall which is about 2 km away from the beach. Benaulim has 2 beaches first Benaulim beach which is the prime beach and secondly Vaddi beach which is less congested and developed than Benalim beach. This is the beach which offers you peace and tranquility, must for relaxation and family outing. Variety of eating joints are there to cater to your taste buds.
 
 
 
Colva is a village with Colva beach which stretches to 2.4 km, the beach consists of about finest powder white sand and is lined along its shore by coconut palms extending furthest towards Bogmalo in the north and Cabo de Rama in the south along South Goa's coastline. In the Portuguese governance days it used to be the retreat for Goa's high society, who would come to Colva for holidays. Today the area that is reminiscent of this age are the beautiful houses or villas, including many ruins that dot the village. Here one can find plenty of budget hotels, guest houses, beach shacks, food stalls, small restaurants, pubs and bars Majority of the local people are historically and presently fishermen by occupation. Currently Colva is a famous tourist destination of South Goa enjoyed for its whitish-silver sands and called the fishing village of South Goa.
 
Varca is a small town in South Goa and renowned for it beaches, hence it has become a popular destination for tourists. The row of wooden fishing boats seen on the beach belong to the Christian fishing community. Varca is a beautiful beach with many resorts lined up along the beach giving you the luxury of enjoying beach holiday in peace and tranquility as this beach is not frequented by many tourists. The Our Lady of Gloria church is considered one of the oldest building in Varca. It is still operational with locals and many tourists attending it services. 
 
 
 
Majorda Beach is one of the famous beaches of South Goa and well connected to Margoa . The beach is home to many good luxury and budget hotels which caters to all type of tourist. Apart from it there are numerous shacks which provide ample choice of sea food. One of such famous eating joint it Marti’s Corner. It also famous for bakery and toddy.  As per Indian mythology, Lord Rama, one of the Indian god who was incarnation of Lord Vishnu was kidnapped and brought here in his childhood.
